Credit Bureau; Akahu Apply; Apply Referrals; redeem a broker Referral Code to start an Enquiry
The Akahu Apply Bank Account Enquiry service now supports Apply Referrals. A finance company can redeem a Referral Code shared by a broker to obtain a pre-populated Application, without sending a Sharing Request to the applicant.
In the standard Akahu Apply flow a Sharing Request is sent to the applicant, who authorises access to their bank data (see KB #22472). With Apply Referrals the broker has already collected the applicant's bank data, so the finance company simply redeems the broker's Referral Code and the Application is created already populated. There is no consent or Sharing Request step.
Enabling Apply Referrals
Apply Referrals is enabled per Cost Centre using the new Enable Apply Referrals? option on the Akahu Bank Account Enquiry Cost Centre. When it is not enabled, the referral option is not offered.
Starting a Referral Enquiry
When Apply Referrals is enabled, the Bank Account Enquiry offers two modes:
- New Enquiry - the standard consent flow (creates a Sharing Request).
- Apply Referral - redeems a broker's Referral Code (format AK_ followed by 10 characters).
The New Enquiry options (Requested Days, Allow Manual Uploads, Skip Landing Page) do not apply to a referral and are disabled when Apply Referral is selected.
Processing
The Referral Code is redeemed to create the Application, then the Report is generated and the data, Resources and documents are downloaded in the same way as the standard flow. The redemption may complete immediately or be processed in the background, and the Enquiry is updated automatically until the Report is available. If the redemption fails, the Bank Account Enquiry is marked as Failed.
Report
The Bank Account Enquiry report for a referral includes a new Referrer section identifying the referring organisation (name, logo and timestamps). As a referral has no Sharing Request, the Sharing Requests section is not shown.
Apply Referrals is available in both finPOWER Connect and finPOWER Connect Cloud.
