Background Processes; Export General Ledger now supported as a Scheduled Process

The Export General Ledger process is now supported as a scheduled Background Process for databases where Web Services have been configured. This includes file-based Exports, and where applicable, database-based exports (such as MYOB API).

Due to potential issues with the Web Server interacting with emPOWER, the following Export Types are not supported when run from a scheduled process:

  • emPOWER 5 Direct
  • emPOWER 5 Save

File-based exports provide several configuration items to ensure they best suit the individual requirements of Finance Companies. This includes the ability to:

  • Immediately export the file or not
    • This provides the flexibility of allowing the scheduled process to generate the Batch but relies on manual review before exporting.
  • Attach the Export File to the summary email once the process has completed.
  • Export the File to a specific location on the file system (provided it is accessible via Web Services).
  • Export the File as an Export Package, downloadable via finPOWER Connect Cloud.
    • A User Range can be specified in the configuration to allow the Export Package to be copied to multiple Users via finPOWER Connect Cloud.

Note: Only the new GL Interface is supported for use with Scheduled Processes and Web Services. For databases still using the old (and now obsolete) interface, the option of a Scheduled Process is not available.
