Forced Test Mode; changes to SMS Messaging to make more flexible

The Global Setting, Cost Centre "Force Test Mode" setting is designed to stop the accidental sending of SMS messages when using your finPOWER Connect database in a test environment.

When Forced Test Mode is enabled it is now not possible to send a SMS message to a Client's mobile phone.

Under Global Settings, Cost Centres group, General page the following changes have been made:

  • "Ignore Errors (applies to Messaging Services)?" checkbox has been removed.
  • A new block "Force Test Mode options" has been added. This includes:
    • "Send SMS Messages?" check box.
    • "Redirect 'To' Phone" mobile phone number.

It is important to note that Cost Centre Test Mode options take precedence and apply if in Forced Test Mode or in User Test Mode.

In order of precedence:

  • If the Cost Centre's "Return mocked responses for requests where available?" is checked the SMS Message is sent and a mock response is generated and used, i.e. the SMS provider's API is never called.
  • If the Cost Centre's "Send To Phone Number" is defined, the SMS Message is sent to this Phone Number.
  • If Global Setting's "Send SMS Messages" is unchecked then sending a SMS Message will fail with the message "Cannot send SMS Message whilst in forced Test Mode.".
  • If Global Setting's "Send SMS Messages" is checked and "Redirect 'To' Phone" is blank an error is generated noting "Cannot send SMS Message whilst in forced Test Mode. Use the Redirect 'To' Phone Global Setting to override.".
  • If Global Setting's "Send SMS Messages" is checked and "Redirect 'To' Phone" has an phone number defined, the message is sent, but instead of to the Client, for example, it is sent to the redirected phone number.

This means that, whilst in Forced Test Mode, a SMS Message cannot be accidentally sent to a Client.

In addition, Credit Bureau requests that include a mobile phone number that is used to contact the Client are now overridden to the Global setting. The following services have been updated:

  • APLYiD
    • Verify
  • Centrix
    • Biometric Verification
  • RealAML
    • Verify
    • Instant Verify
