NZ Government (MBIE) Service; updated for new Cloud-based API platform
During 2022, MBIE is changing their underlying API technology with a new Cloud-based API platform. The old API is scheduled to be decommissioned at the end of February 2023.
This change involves re-registering subscriptions for the various APIs. The Subscriptions must then be configured in finPOWER Connect. You can opt to use either the old API or new API within finPOWER 3.4.5.
NOTE: One of the key differences are there are now separate Subscriber Keys for each API and the API URL Endpoints have changed. In addition the "version" of each API has been incremented.
To use the new Cloud-based API you need to register for the new APIs at https://portal.api.business.govt.nz/ (previously https://api.business.govt.nz/). You should use the "Subscription key" method. Once you are approved and have your Subscription Keys continue to update details in finPOWER Connect,
Within Cost Centres, NZ Government Page, there is a new section under the Credentials and Test Credentials pages "New Cloud-based API Credentials". Check the relevant API and enter your Subscriber Key.
There are separate Subscriber Keys for:
- NZBN
- Note, as at 2 August this new API is not available.
- Companies Entity Role Search
- Companies Disqualified Director Search
NOTE: Once using the New Cloud-based API the original Consumer Key and Secret will no longer be used.
There are no other changes, the following functions should still work as before:
- Credit Enquiry, NZ Government service products:
- NZBN Entity Details v4
- Technically this is now "v5" but for backwards compatibility finPOWER Connect still uses "v4" as the Product Name
- NZCO Entity Role Search
- NZCO Disqualified Directors Search
- NZ Government Mailbox
Note, the Service Log may show the old API version, but since the requests and responses are 100% compatible between the versions this does not matter.
