Experian (NZ) Credit Enquiry
Overview
finPOWER Connect v6.00.03 introduces a new Experian (NZ) Credit Bureau service. Experian has acquired illion's New Zealand business and is in the process of decommissioning the existing illion (NZ) products. The new Experian (NZ) service is the direct successor and is the migration target for every illion (NZ) customer.
The service supports two products out of the box — Consumer Enquiry and Quotation Seeker — and is configurable per Cost Centre. Enquiries can return either Negative or Comprehensive data, and Consumer Enquiries can optionally include Ministry of Justice fines data.
Both finPOWER Connect Desktop and finPOWER Connect Cloud are supported. The Cloud surface adds a new Individual Credit Enquiry HTML Widget and a Cost Centre Edit widget, so the entire workflow — from Cost Centre setup through to running an enquiry and viewing the report — can be completed without leaving the browser.
Prerequisites
HtmlWidget_ExperianNZ_Individual registered as the Individual Credit Enquiry widget for the Experian (NZ) service in Cloud ConfigurationSetup & Configuration
Setup happens in two places: the Cost Centre that holds the Experian credentials and Enquiry options, and (for Cloud users) the Cloud Configuration form that points the Individual Credit Enquiry widget at the new Experian widget.
Cost Centre — Credentials and Options
Desktop: Administration, Cost Centres, then open or create the Cost Centre that will be used for Experian (NZ) enquiries. Cloud: Administrator, Cost Centres.
On the Cost Centre's Services list, tick Experian (NZ). A new Experian NZ page will appear in the form's left-hand navigation.
On the Credentials page, enter the Request URL (leave blank to accept the Experian default), Subscriber Id, User Id and Password supplied by Experian. Optionally enter a parallel set of Test credentials below for development environments.
Where individual operators have their own Experian User Id / Password, add a User Override row per finPOWER Connect User and supply the per-user credentials for both Production and Test.
On the Options page, choose between Negative Enquiry and Comprehensive Enquiry, pick a default Enquiry Type, and tick Include Ministry of Justice fines data if MoJ fines should be returned with Consumer Enquiries.
Save and close. The service is now ready to be invoked from the Credit Enquiry workflow.

Cloud Configuration — Wire up the HTML Widgets
Launch the Cloud Configuration form from the Desktop Administration menu.
Forms & Actions, Service: locate the Credit Enquiry — Individual entry for the Experian (NZ) service and set its HTML Widget to HtmlWidget_ExperianNZ_Individual (Version 1.00, 25/02/2026).
Forms & Actions, Administration: register HtmlWidget_CostCentreEdit_ExperianNZ (Version 1.00, 05/03/2026) so that the Experian (NZ) page of the Cost Centre form is editable in the Cloud. Note that, unlike most Admin libraries, the Cost Centre form uses one Widget per service page.
Save the configuration. Cloud users will now see the Experian-specific UI in both the Cost Centre form and the Credit Enquiry workflow.
How to Use
Once the Cost Centre is configured, an Experian (NZ) Credit Enquiry can be run against any individual Client or Account Application that has sufficient identification data on file.
Running a Consumer Enquiry from a Client
Locate the individual Client. On Desktop, open the Client form. On Cloud, open the Client and locate the Credit Enquiry action.
From the Form Actions bar (Desktop) or the Actions menu (Cloud), choose Credit Enquiry. Select Experian (NZ) as the service and Consumer Enquiry as the product.
The Enquiry Type and the Negative / Comprehensive setting default from the Cost Centre. Override per-enquiry if required. Confirm whether to include MoJ fines.
finPOWER Connect calls Experian and stores the response. The Client Summary then shows the consolidated result — consumer header, addresses, accounts, defaults, judgments, MoJ fines (if requested), and the Experian score.
The new SummaryPage2_CreditEnquiryReport_ExperianNZ built-in Summary Page (Version 1.00, 24/02/2026) is used to render the report. Any Product Warnings returned by Experian are displayed at the top of the Client Summary.
Running a Quotation Seeker enquiry
Quotation Seeker is run the same way as Consumer Enquiry but is selected as the product on step 2. Quotation Seeker is intended for early-stage quote scenarios and does not include the Ministry of Justice option. The result is also rendered through SummaryPage2_CreditEnquiryReport_ExperianNZ.
Platform Differences
| Aspect | Desktop | Cloud |
|---|---|---|
| Cost Centre setup | Native Cost Centres form, Experian NZ page. | HtmlWidget_CostCentreEdit_ExperianNZ (Version 1.00, 05/03/2026) renders the same page. |
| Running an enquiry | Native Credit Enquiry form, with Experian (NZ) selected as the service. | HtmlWidget_ExperianNZ_Individual (Version 1.00, 25/02/2026) provides the Cloud equivalent. |
| Summary report | SummaryPage2_CreditEnquiryReport_ExperianNZ rendered into the Client Summary view. | Same Summary Page script — identical content rendered through the Cloud's HTML host. |
| Per-user credentials | User Override grid populated against finPOWER Connect Users. | Configured via the Cost Centre Edit widget; values flow to Web Services at run time. |
Permission Keys
Experian (NZ) Credit Enquiries are gated by the standard finPOWER Connect Credit Enquiry permission keys — no new permission keys were introduced for this provider. Ensure operators who will run enquiries are members of a User Group that grants the Credit Enquiry permissions for the relevant Client and Account Application contexts.

All Experian (NZ) configuration is stored on the Cost Centre — there are no Global Settings specific to this provider. The following Cost Centre settings drive the integration:

Tips & Best Practices
Experian has acquired illion's New Zealand business and is decommissioning the existing illion (NZ) Credit Bureau service. Contact your Intersoft dealer to obtain Experian (NZ) credentials BEFORE the illion service is decommissioned. Once illion is switched off, any Cost Centre still pointing at the illion service will be unable to run new enquiries. The illion (NZ) products in v6.00.03 already display a banner indicating they are scheduled to be replaced by the equivalent Experian product, and the HtmlWidget_illionNZ_Individual widget (Version 1.12) now surfaces this Product Warning at the top of the Client Summary.
The Sign Up button on the illion (NZ) Cost Centre page now navigates to https://www.experian.co.nz/. New customers should sign up with Experian directly rather than illion.
Where Experian provide a Test environment, populate the Test credential fields and run a few sample enquiries against known data before switching to Production. Per-user overrides apply independently to Production and Test, so each operator can be tested without affecting live billing.
Comprehensive enquiries return more data (and may carry a higher per-call cost). Default the Cost Centre to whichever mode reflects your standard credit policy and override at the point of enquiry only when needed.
