Quick Search 2 added
Quick Search in finPOWER Connect has historically involved searching any number of database tables, which could cause performance issues on larger databases and, also, search result inconsistencies where certain optimisations were made to accommodate larger databases.
Global Settings, General, Search, now has an option to "Use Quick Search (version 2)?".
Once enabled, you MUST "Rebuild ALL Indexes". This may take several hours on very large databases.
Quick Search 2 uses a special database table named ISSearch. This table is optimised for searching and is updated whenever a record such as a Client or Account is saved. This does, of course, mean that the database size will be increased but it comes with the benefit of having a single source for searching.
The "Allow 'Deep' Search?" option, when checked, will provide the User with the option to perform a "Deep Search" if the original search did not return any, or many, results. In finPOWER Connect Cloud, this appears as "Not found what you're looking for? Try a 'deep search'" appearing below the search field in the Search view. This will search information NOT in the ISSearch table and this will depend on the type of information stored in the database and licensed modules etc. Currently, this does very little other that search Security Item Owner details.
NOTE: As per any database queries, when running under SQL Server, the first couple of Quick Searches may be much slower than expected until SQL Server caches the required information.
