Summary Pages and other HTML Views; may display a message that WebView2 Runtime is not installed on this computer

Summary Pages may display a message like "The WebView2 Runtime is not installed on this computer. This functionality will be disabled for this session.". This is likely because something uninstalled the "Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime" application.

The message has been amended to either "The Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is not installed on this computer." or "The Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is not correctly installed on this computer.". This is followed by "The version found is x.x.x.", "The User Data folder is '[FolderName]'" and finally by the error message, typically "Couldn't find a compatible Webview2 Runtime installation to host WebViews. The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)".

Commonly this error occurs when Windows updates the WebView2 Runtime whilst finPOWER Connect is running. If this is detected the message will include "The Version initially used was x.x.x.x, but is now y.y.y.y." and "Please restart finPOWER Connect and try again.".

In addition a button has been added to link to the webpage https://www.intersoft.co.nz/Support/UserGuides.aspx?id=TSB1038 where a Technical Support Bulletin will assist with this issue. Clicking on the button also copies the message to the clipboard.

Firstly try restarting finPOWER Connect. If that doesn't fix the issue, restart your computer - if Windows has just applied updates it may need restarting.

To check the WebView2 runtime is installed go to Windows Apps & Features and search for "WebView" - if it doesn't appear it indicates it is not installed. You should see an item "Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime".

To reinstall the WebView2 Runtime open https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/ and click Download and install the Evergreen bootstrapper - do not install a fixed version.

In addition the Help, Support Information, under the heading "Microsoft" includes details of the "Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime" version. However, if WebView2 is not working you can't see this information as can't be displayed. Instead look at the Help, About form.
