Portals; Built-in Login form now displays compatibility warning if using Internet Explorer

Users signing in to Portals using Internet Explorer will now see the following compatibility warning:

Internet Explorer has known compatibility issues. If you wish to use a Microsoft browser, we suggest you use the latest version of Edge.

A new method has been added to the portal JavaScript object to retrieve a compatibility warning:

  • portal.GetPlatformCompatibilityWarning()

NOTE: Unlike finPOWER Connect Cloud which will prevent Users from signing in when using Internet Explorer, the default Portal behaviour is to simply display a compatibility warning.

When running a Portal from within finPOWER Connect desktop, the Web Browser control used to host the Portal is always based on Internet Explorer and hence the compatibility warning will NOT be displayed. This also applies to running the Portal from the "Test in External Browser" button, regardless of whether the external browser is Internet Explorer, Chrome, Edge or any other browser.
