finPOWER Connect Cloud Configuration; New settings to help alleviate mobile devices signing out regularly

finPOWER Connect Cloud has a Session Timeout that is configured under the finPOWER Connect Cloud Configuration form, Security page, and is set, by default, to 20 minutes.

However, this "20 minutes" relies on the web browser being able to communicate with finPOWER Connect Cloud at least once every two minutes. If communication is not made then the User is forced to sign-in again.

This is for security reasons, e.g.:

• The User may have left their desk or device unlocked
• The User may have closed the web browser or finPOWER Connect Cloud page
• This in itself is not enough for the User to be signed out since it is possible to have multiple sessions of finPOWER Connect Cloud running and be able to close a web page in one without the other being signed out

In desktop situations, this is generally fine.

However, mobile devices and operating systems such as an iPad running iOS may not always allow communication between finPOWER Connect Cloud and the web server and therefore cause the User to have to sign-in again much more frequently.

This will generally be due to the operating system "pausing" the process running finPOWER Connect Cloud, e.g.:

• When the User switches to another application (e.g., to check their email)
• When screen locking kicks in
• When battery save mode is enabled and no activity is taking place

The finPOWER Connect Cloud Configuration form, Security page now has a new setting for "Mobile Device keep-alive minutes". By default this is 10 minutes but can be configured up to 20 minutes.

NOTE: If the Session Timeout is higher than the Keep Alive minutes, the Session Timeout value will be used instead.

Other situations that may cause the User to sign-in include the loss of an internet connection (either Wi-Fi or Mobile Data) for more than 2 minutes.
