Email fails to send with "failed to create 'Outlook.Application' object" from Help, About form

If finPOWER Connect fails to send an email with a "failed to create 'Outlook.Application' object", this may be due to one of the following:

  • Microsoft Outlook is not installed on the PC.
    • Install Microsoft Outlook.
  • The registry does not contain an entry "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Outlook.Application"
    • Run the Microsoft Office repair tool.

Typically, a check is made that the "Outlook.Application" registry entry exists before enabling any email functionality such as this. However, the Help, About for does not perform this check to allow troubleshooting of issues such as this.
