Global Setting to disable Account and Client List forms

A new setting is available under Global Settings, General, Search to disable the showing of Account and Client List forms.

This setting can be used to:

  • Prevent large database from opening these forms which could cause performance and stability issues.
  • Force 'Quick Search' to be used in Range Lookup and on the Accounts and Clients forms (when used in combinations with certain other settings).

When List forms are disabled, the corresponding Search form (e.g., Account Search) will be opened instead or, if the User Preferences, General, Search, Buttons option is set to 'Search Button Only' (or the User does not have permission to view the relevant Search form, e.g., Account Search), a 'Search' button will appear on these forms instead of a 'Find' and the Quick Search dropdown can be used to locate records instead.

The following tweaks have been made to the User Preferences form:

  • Accounts, General, 'Should the Search button open the Account List form' has been moved to the General, Search page.
  • Clients, General, 'Should the Search button open the Client List form' has been moved to the General, Search page.

Account and Client Range Lookups (e.g., in wizards and report parameters) have had the following changes:

  • If Range Lookups are disabled (Global and User Settings, General, Performance page) and the User Preferences, General, Search, Buttons option is set to 'Search Button Only' (or the User does not have permission to view the relevant Search form, e.g., Account Search), a 'Search' button will appear on these forms instead of a 'Find' and the Quick Search dropdown can be used to locate records instead.
