finPOWER System Requirements

This article is designed to provide you with guidelines for the minimum and recommended system requirements for running finPOWER.

These recommendations are guidelines only, requirements may vary with each installation and intended use of the system.

Supported Microsoft Windows Operating Systems

finPOWER can operate on Windows XP (32-bit), Vista (32 or 64-bit), Windows 7 (32 or 64-bit), Windows 8 (32 or 64-bit) or Windows 10 (32 or 64-bit) operating systems.

Minimum: Windows XP with Service Pack 3.
Recommended: Windows 7.

Older versions of Windows operating systems are not supported. See Microsoft Product Lifecycle Information for more information.

Memory (RAM)

Minimum: 1GB RAM.
Recommended: 2GB RAM or more on 64-bit operating systems.

Display Resolution

Minimum: 1024 x 768.
Recommended: 1280 x 1024 or higher.

Network

finPOWER is only designed to operate on and is only tested with Microsoft Window's networking.

Novell, Linux and other non-Windows based network storage devices are not tested or recommended.

Microsoft Office

finPOWER uses Microsoft Office in some of its functions. Microsoft Word is used for the generation of documents and letters, and therefore is central to the operation of finPOWER. Microsoft Excel may be used to analyse data within finPOWER. Microsoft Access may be used for advanced database queries and reports.

Minimum: Microsoft Word 2000.
Recommended: Microsoft Office 2007.

Access (Jet) databases

Access Database files must be stored on a robust Windows operating system file server.

Recommended maximum total users: 10.
Recommended maximum database size: 200MB.

Microsoft SQL Server databases

The finPOWER SQL Server Add-On allows finPOWER to open and use Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 and 2012 databases.

Microsoft SQL Server requires "SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode" to be turned on. For more information see SQL Server Notes.

Recommended: SQL Server 2012 running on its own dedicated Server.

Microsoft SQL Server 2000 is not recommended. See Microsoft Product Lifecycle Information for more information.

The finPOWER SQL Server Add-On must be purchased separately.

Microsoft SQL Server and client licenses to login to the server must be purchased separately.
